Hey folks, I have a question concerning tab groups.

I have several work related tabs and I put them into a tab group. When I am at work, I switch to that tab group. So far, so good.

When I open a link e.g. from an email, it won't open in the same window where the tab group is open, but always in a new window. That kinda unnerves me. Is there a way to work around this? Can I force Safari to open links always in the active tab group?

Cheers!
Stefan

Just noticed this same issue myself, I don't have Monterey yet but Safari 15.0 has been released seperately and now links from Slack, Mail etc., are all opening in a new window. Annoying! 🙃

Tried setting Open in tabs to Always, and also the terminal option 'defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true'

*Update: You're right, it's specifically related to to tab groups. I've just opened a clean browser session and all links open in a single window as expected.

Came here to say the same thing! It's really annoying and I always have to open a new tab, then drag the other one into the tab group I'm working in. Hope they make a workaround.
