Can someone run Flurry the screen saver and look for a horizontal line. It sorta travels up/down. I want to see if its just the screensaver or if the display is messed up..

Yeah it is, my ibbok does it, my powermac does it and so does our C2D imac, so it's just th screensaverpuckhead193 said:good i'm glad i'm not the only one. I think its just the charateristic of the screensaver

Flurry SUFFERS from screen tearing on the imac. Everybody knows that. You just haven't noticed it yet.
Every newer imac i have seen flurry on, displays vertical screentearing. (the ones (6-7) at work, and also the 3 intel imac's i have unpacked the last month. + My friends imacs.. So please! don't try to fool anyone that your computer is unique.
What you also will notice is that every G5/intel imac has brighter corners when flurry is on, when seen in a dark room. It's not the computers fault. It's just a buggy screensaver, even thou it's nice to look at!

The reason (iirc) it tears is because the screensaver is running at a higher framerate than the monitor (Usually 60hz, which means it refreshes the image on the screen 60 times a second, although with TFT's it doesn't, but i'm not going into that.) can handle.
So, if the graphics card is pumping out flurry at say 70fps, there will be a point where the screen is refreshing when the graphics card is half way through rendering a frame, then you'll only get half of the frame displayed, and half of the next one, which gives you a tearing effect.
Most games have a V-Sync function which won't let the graphics card render over 60fps (Or whatever the refresh rate of your monitor is set at).
So, yeah. There is nothing wrong with your machine, infact its a good thing that its doing that.
Looks ugly though.
I'm not sure, but as far as most people are conserned, they're the same.Macmadant said:Is a TFT display different to an LCD ? or am i getting confused
sorry, just had to sayfatsoforgotso said:PowerBook G4 1.67 does it too.
It's the screensaver not your video card.
