Question for Intel Imac folks

I need to get RAM. I have seen it posted, but I couldn't find one. Can I get a couple recommendations for where to purchase RAM, and what kind, all that stuff.. Some of you are much more "in the know" than I am, and I don't want to get the wrong stuff...

The easiest way is to go to a site that guarantees compatibility with the new Intel iMacs such as crucial.com, coastmemory.com or datamem.com. If you want to save a few bucks, you can venture out and buy something similar but you may be stuck with a product that isn't compatible and maybe even a restocking fee.

Myself, I went to Fry's and bought a stick of Mushkin memory for my new Intel iMac. If it doesn't work, I can take it back for now charge.

Depends where you are. If your in the States & Canada you have access to much cheaper ram than Europe.

If your in the UK you have access to greater ram than those living in Ireland or Iceland....

Datamem seems to be touted around here a lot
MacRamDirect also do good prices

Crucial very good if your in the states $117 for a 1gb piece whereas if your in Euro land the price is the equivalent of $190 for the same piece, shipping from the same bloody place

I decided because of the higher Euro price just to order my extra memory at the same time as i bought the iMac from Apple. Where I would never normally by ram from Apple on this 1 instance, maxing out the 2gb from Apple worked out slighlty cheaper than crucial.eu

I just received a 1GB stick from OWC. I'll be adding it to my soon-to-arrive iMac, hopefully today or tomorrow. I've been very happy with their RAM in my PowerMac and PowerBook.

Does anyone know if CRUCIAL has it in stock? I see OWC doesn't.. Crucial is a little more expensive, but I may go with them if they have it in stock.

I ordered a 1GB stick from datamem but they sent me an e-mail to let me know that they don't have any in stock yet from the supplier, though they were supposed to arrive last week. They should have them and begin shipping them out at the end of this week, though.

BTW, the Intel Imac uses PC2-5300 DDR2 667MHz 200 pin SO-DIMMs--most online stores will have an ordering wizard which will help you identify this product.

Sweet, that must mean they have them in stock, which means I should get mine later this week too. It was only a few bucks more for next day shipping, so I said what the hell.
