For those who have used the mini 5 for some time, in real world use how much do you write/ draw on it and do you find it to be ok size wise?

Do you use it as a daily driver or just as an add on to a laptop for example?

Finally I have read that there were some screen issues particularly to do with colour. So people saying the screen/ colours were leaning very red.

Does anyone know if this is a widespread thing like the white spot issue on iPad pro 10.5''s or not so much?

I use mine every day, in addition to my iPad Pro 11 2021 (and still have my iPad Pro 11 2018, which I used to use every day and still use most days). It’s my night-time (in bed) iPad. I mostly use it for content consumption. However, I do write on it when I’m grading papers for a programming class I teach. The rubric is on the Mini, the student papers are on the new iPP 11, and my marked up printouts are on the iPP 11 2018.

When I had time to do Every-Tuesday tutorials, I actually found them easier to do on the Mini 5 than on the iPP 11. I’m not sure why. Maybe for me, the smaller screen is less intimidating than the larger screen. I hope to have time to work on more tutorials and try switching between the 11 and the Mini 5.

My Mini 5, purchased on release day, doesn’t strike me as being at all red. I don’t use True Tone or whatever that “feature” is that makes everything yellow. Hate, hate, hate it.

I have a mini 4. I use it most days but it’s a media consumption/entertainment device for me - for my purposes, it’s too small to use as a laptop replacement. It’s size is it’s greatest strength though - I love how easy it is to throw in a bag and how light it is!

I have replaced my 12.9 iPad Pro, iPad 6th gen, and iPad Mini 4 with the Mini 5.

I use the Mini 5 heavily and daily as my digital notebook/journal/planner. I also use it as an ereader and netbook (when I attach the Zagg keyboard case to it). But it is a supplement to my other devices.

Regarding the acceptability of the Mini's size for writing and drawing, it is perfect for me because I use a 5.5" x 8.5" padfolio paper notebook which is nearly the same size as the Mini.

The Mini's screen is, IMO, the best of any iPad and doesn't suffer from the white spot issues that plague iPads with screens larger than 10.2". I have found the screen colors to be very accurate. The Mini also sports the highest pixel density of any iPad (Pro or non-Pro).

Thank you for your replies.

I was beginning to find YouTube videos a bit tricky as I don't want spec rundowns but real world uses for it.

I have a 2016 9.7 iPad pro that is almost out of storage and have recently sold a few things. I have been worried that even though it's more recent, I would miss having a pro but that mini seems pretty powerful.

I have a laptop so this is just for extra stuff, note taking, sofa planning etc.

I can get it for £325 including a voucher I have so sorely tempted!

It's a lot like a notepad or a clipboard in terms of size. Very good for writing with the Apple Pencil!
