If you purchase an Apple laptop with the new M1 chip....can all your apps run? Or, like OSX, do we have to wait until developers update their apps to work on the new platform? For example, Adobe programs / Microsoft Office?

I should know the answer, but I don't!

Everything will run, but apps will need to be updated to new architecture in order to run “better”. Apple mentioned that photoshop will be updated around January, I’d expect most software suites to be updated by spring-summer.

If it won’t run in Big Sur, I think there’s a good chance it won’t run at all on M1. So some legacy software and extensions may need rewriting by the developers.
