Question: iPhone 5s to Moto x

Ever since trying out iOS 8 I like the always listening feature but it has to be plugged in. I know this is a feature the moto x promotes which got me interested.

I still enjoy many things about the iPhone but I do miss swiftkey, and some of the customization android offers.

Has anyone else made the switch from a iPhone 5s to a moto x? Or any thoughts?

I own the 5C and the Moto X, and have found myself reaching for my Moto X more and more. I took a road trip recently and the combination of the Google Maps and the Moto X's speakers was an amazing experience (the speaker volume is absurd. I had to turn it down because it was too loud. I never thought I could ever say that about a smartphone).

I personally don't always use the always listening feature, but I find nearly everything else on Android a better and easier experience: better keyboard experience, better mail, better browsing, better notifications (I've actually added NotifierPro to get drop down banner notifications like iOS. It works much better on a larger screen. Far less obtrusive!), much much easier to share things between apps and people (I love how it remembers that I upload to DropBox the most so it'll list it as first when I share things), easier access to settings and toggles, the back button!... etc.

I know you're not unfamiliar with Android so I'll stop there, but the list can go on and on. Don't know if that helps you or not.

I'm really looking forward to what the next Moto X brings. Currently, the Moto X I have is a work phone and the 5C is my personal phone. This may change soon.

Yep went from a 5S to the Moto X. That was 7 months ago. There are only three things I miss about the iPhone and none of them are important enough to bring me back. I miss the camera of the iPhone, both its features and quality. I miss iMessage as 95% of my friends/family have an iPhone. And I also miss some of the functionality of the Spotify app on iOS.

However none of these are enough to keep me, even with the new iOS 8 features (such as 3rd party keyboards). I love the stock Android experience of the Moto X with a few quality added features like the always listening and the notification screen. I also love the combination of near stock Android and Nova launcher, lets me customize my home screen to meet my needs. I have recommended the Moto X to friends who have considered a switch. Too bad you missed try a Moto X promo for a penny a couple days back.

Thanks for the detailed reply. When I had a s4 and note 2 I felt like Google now wasn't as comprehensive as siri. I don't care so much about the active notifications. But I just like how siri integrates with texting, notifications, calendar, notes, googling.

Has Google now caught up or gotten better than siri?

I rarely use either feature so I can't say for sure. Sorry! The only time I use hands free is in the car and that's only to perform basic functions like "call so and so" as I'm approaching or something. I've only really begun using my Moto X as a daily driver, but I believe both perform the basics well.

I imagine there are probably plenty of comparison videos/articles online. From what I've seen, Google Now is a bit more dynamic with predictions and catered help, where as Siri is better at direct assistant-related commands.

And I do find, however, that in terms of regular ol' searching... Google Now beats Siri in speed and voice accuracy.

The iPhone and Siri is a distant second to Moto X and Google Now IF you use Google's apps like GMail, to ensure complete integration. And I'm not sure this edge the Moto X currently has will continue when ios8 and the iPhone 6 get released in a couple of months.

But right now, nothing matches the Moto X in this area.

P.S. Motorola Assist. Love this app. So basic in what it does, makes you wonder why not every phone has this all in one sort of app.
