For the Mac Pro, I know it uses 667 DDR2. Thing is can it use any type of 667 DDR2 or it has to be a special model that will work with the Mac Pro?

Seeing I might move up market sometime soon. Seeing if I just pay for 1 gb to start off with and I can end up buying another gig for like $100+ instead of the $300+ that Apple wants which would be great.

You probably get this question often.

Thanks :)

Well you won't find memory at 1/3 of Apple's price but there are often savings to be had purchasing RAM third-party. However, make sure you are looking at RAM that is tested and guaranteed MacPro compatible, from a reputable seller, who offers a lifetime warranty and a no cost return or replacement if the RAM doesn't work

It does have to be a specific type of DDR2-667 RAM. Regular DDR2 will not work. It has to be a Fully Buffered ECC 667 MHz DIMM with Apple approved heat spreaders.

Thanks
