I bought an iPhone May 29th as a graduation gift because I didn't believe the rumors (how stupid am I...) The day the 3G iPhone was announced I went to return my iPhone to wait for the 3G. I didn't do the "free upgrade if bought after May 27th" because my AT&T store said it was a rumor. I recently received a letter from AT&T saying that 3 out of the 4 lines on my family plan are eligible for upgrade, mine is not one of them. However, this was printed when I still had my iPhone. Does me returning my iPhone make me eligible, or am I still not?
Obviously AT&T knows the answer better than anyone here.
So, you bought an iPhone on May 29th and returned it... and then what?
Did you buy a new phone and sign a contract? The fact that you previously bought an iPhone makes no difference anymore since you returned it.
The current phone you bought and are in contract for is what matters. If you signed a 2 year contract and got a subsidized phone (which almost all of them are), then you are probably considered "not eligible".
If that's true: that you bought and signed a contract for a phone after June 9th, then you still have time to return it.
