hiya i'm planning to join in the bandwagon and buy a 3rd-gen iPod Touch. (even thought i'm eagerly awaiting the 4th iteration of the eternal device)

i'm well aware that the iPod Touch has no FM radio built-in. i also happen to hear that one can pair-up the iPod Touch to any bluetooth-enabled device presuming one of them is a mobile phone.

so, in theory (or in practice) can you pair the iPod Touch with your mobile phone via bluetooth and listen to the FM radio?

or

should i wait for the OS 4.0 and just hope & pray that "unlocking the FM radio" is included in it?

To my knowledge, you can't pair it to listen to FM radio.

Also, if you have FM radio on your phone, why pair it with the Touch to listen to it? Can't you just listen to it from the phone?

That is tru though. i can just listen to FM radio on my mobile phone. but it's just easier and more convenient if you CAN have an FM radio (never mind digital or HD or satellite as these are not available in most countries...yet) on the iPod Touc isn't it.

let's just hope that the 4.0 OS will be our "saving grace". fingers crossed...
