Hello

My iMac's fans are running at the normal speeds 700-1200-1200. But I can hear one of them quite clearly, just enough to annoy. The place where I can hear the noise coming from the most is the top right of the imac.

In my quiet room I can hear the fan from the other side of it.

Is this 'below standard' or is this just to be expected?

24" 8800 gs model.

Andy

well the aluminum imac is a huge heat sink, so it get hot in one corner. that is probibly where the heat is, so the sensors have that fan running faster than the others. its probibly normal. i would just be worries if it starts to whine

I have used SMC fan control to increase the fan speeds, and all this seems to do is add an extra fan noise, not increase the fan noise which is constant.

So that now leaves me to believe it's the 8800 GS which is actually making the noise. Is this plausible?
