Hi guys, I have an easy question which I just need to confirm.

After jailbreaking my iphone (I also did a restore so the phone is clean), can I run restore from iTune and have everything sync back to my iphone, or should I start a new session? If I start a new session, will everything in iTune (apps/musics/notes/contacts) be sync back to my phone?

Thanks in advance.

If you do a restore, all the jailbreak software will be overwritten and you will lose your jailbreak.

If you want to learn how to JB, go to iClarified and read the tutorial.

If you mean sync instead of restore, yes after JB, you can sync back your contacts, music, address book, etc.

If you have an iPhone 3G, you can restore using iTunes as long as you are careful to use the 3.0.1 firmware. If you have a 3GS, you will not be able to restore using 3.0.1; the only firmware iTunes now allows to be uploaded to the 3GS is 3.1.1.

Thanks guys! I am not having trouble with the jailbreak. Just want to find out the best way "restore" everything in the phone after the jailbreak. At one point i even wonder if i really need to restore it before jailbreak, but i did it anyway just to follow the instructions :)

You need to be careful with using your term "restore" as it has a specific meaning with regard to iPhone (restore means a complete firmware rewrite)

As I stated in my 1st post, if you backed up (synced) your phone before JB, just re-sync it after jailbreak to get back your stuff.

+1

OP: were you talking about syncing data with iTunes? If that's the case, yes, you should be able to sync everything up after you've jailbroken without losing your jailbreak. But do not upgrade your OS or perform a restore (as opposed to a sync).
