Hi,

I recently did a clean install of El Capitan but I did it a different way to most. I installed and upgraded through the mac store and then I went into disk utility, trough recovery mode, and then erased the hard drive and then reinstalled the OS (which is El Capitan) through the disk utility in recovery mode.

Is this technically a clean install or should I have done it through USB as I don't mind doing it that way. Also is there a different through doing it this way instead of USB?

Thanks

How come everyone opts for the USB method then?
Because that avoids having to download the entire 6GB OS installer twice. But if you don't mind the double download there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way you did it and the result is identical.
