I tried to rent a movie via my :apple:TV and got a response, "need a valid address to purcharse using store credit". I don't have any store credit and have inputed everything for my iTunes account. I have an aol screen name and it will let me sign in on my :apple:TV. I tried to reboot, I checked my account information on iTunes. Everything seems fine, but no rentals. Anyone got any ideas?

Yes, happened to me at my first purchase and there were other posts about this when Take 2 first came out. Thank god someone told me to edit my billing information on my iTunes account. Log into your account on iTunes (at your computer, not Apple TV) and reenter the State and Zip code, even if it shows correct. You might want to reenter every field in order to be sure. Then save it and try from Apple TV again. Odd problem, made no sense, but worked for me and others that I read about. Good Luck. Post back and let us know if this worked....

That's one solution I hadn't read about. I'll have to try it again as neither of my two AppleTVs I recently purchased can buy/rent anything or even play purchases I made from my Mac (not authorized error for things already purchased and "can't find id/password" type error when I try to rent directly from AppleTV).

I tried re-entering my address and it still doesn't work from AppleTV. I just get the same Apple I.D is not recognized or your password is incorrect error. NOTHING I do (unauthorize/reauthorize; unsync/resync computer, etc.) makes a bit of difference. Both of my AppleTV units REFUSE to play purchased content or even connect to YouTube. It just plain SUCKS. AppleTV is FAR from "It just works" because it doesn't work at all with iTunes here.

I wonder if it'd make any difference if I used my PC to sync instead or using Leopard instead of Tiger (Leopard is slow on my 1.8GHz 7448 G4 with a Rage 128 card so I haven't been using it, but my Radeon 9700 Pro should be back tomorrow; I got a 'missed you' delivery notice from the Post Office today for an express package, so that was obviously it; maybe Leopard will run better then. I haven't been able to try the 9700 Pro with Leopard since I got the 1.8GHz upgrade, but it was slow with the 9700Pro with the dual 533 G4s that was in it before, so it still seems strange. I only get an 11 for User Interface in Leopard right now; I get almost a 100 in Tiger with the same computer (1.8GHz 7448 G4 Digital Audio + 1.5GB of ram + Sonnet Sata only for hard drives which are 2 500GB models and I get 75Mb/sec on them so it makes NO sense for Leopard to suck so hard with this computer other than the graphics card, but even then... it's a 100 on Tiger with the same card! There should not be a 10-1 difference like that, IMO regardless of the video card).

I remember reading that they have started phasing out AOL screen names for AppleTV. I believe I even came across a FAQ entry about it on Apple's support website. Try to associate your account with a different email address or contact Apple and get them to fix it for you.
