I'm currently using an iPhone 7. In the past, I've only used one phone at a time. Even if I buy one of the new phones, I'd like to keep the 7 as a backup. (Apple is replacing the battery on Monday.) The new phone would be unlocked. Can I simply swap the SIM card between the phones whenever I'd like without incurring any carrier charges? I'm on Verizon.

Yes, I have done that multiple times. No additional charges. Your new phone will have a $30 one time activation fee, that can be waived if you call Verizon.

Yep. It’ll work just fine.
