So I called Apple and have been getting different responses on this so thought I'd ask here.

I bought a 10s and want to return it for a 10s Max. Last Friday I sent my IPhone 8(also an IUP phone) back to either Apple or Citizens One in the Fedex box they sent me. As of now it is still in transit. I went to one store and was told the original IPhone 8 needs to be fully processed so the loan can be cancelled out and I can swap a 10s for a 10s Max. I called Apple now and was told this is not necessary and that I would need to call Citizen's One to cancel the loan, then wait 24 hours later for the loan to be fully cancelled then I can go into an Apple store and get the phone.

Does this make sense? Waiting for the return of the 8 to be fully processed makes someone sense but having to call Citizen's One to have them cancel it doesn't make sense. Why couldn't I just go to an Apple store to have them cancel it for me and pick up a 10s Max at the same time?

Typically when you return the XS, they should be able to close out the loan. But if you plan on doing the iUP on the XS Max then you'll need to open up a new loan and start over again. You don't need to contact Citizen One loan to close it out. Typically Apple will receive your trade in and once it's process, Apple will complete it and close out the old loan.
