After June 30, 2012 will i have to get another email account? The email apple just sent me said "Your MobileMe subscription will be automatically extended through June 30, 2012, at no additional charge. After that date, MobileMe will no longer be available.". Will my @me.com still work?

Nobody knows what that means exactly, but logic would suggest that at the least you will not be able to log into MobileMe the same way you've been doing so. I've seen nothing about whether the @me domain name will survive through some kind of grandfathering.

At the least one would hope Apple would still forward mail from @me addresses to @icloud addresses (or whatever they end up being).

My guess is that if you don't convert your MobileMe account to an iCloud account before that date, you'll lose it. There's no reason not to convert though, so they'll assume you've abandoned it after June 2012.

And yes, they did say you can keep your @me.com address if you transfer it to the iCloud account.

If history has anything to show, my .mac account still works as .mac, so if they do go to the icloud.com domain name, the .me will work as long as you want it.

I just wanted to know if I should start notifying the hundreds of people that email me, along with all of the bank/credit accounts that have my @me.com account address that they need to start emailing a gmail account. Thanks for the information.

Since there is no word out from apple on this, how can we really provide any advise? If you don't want to use @me anymore then by all means start notifying everyone of your gmail account.

There IS word from Apple on this. Go to the account section of your mobileme account. There is a notice there.

When you sign up for iCloud, you'll be able to keep your me.com or mac.com email address and move your MobileMe mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service.
