I know most don't consider this important but i'm in the process of ordering me a new iMac and was interested in the brand apple use in this new gen of iMac's.

I'm undecided on ether 750GB or 1TB HD.

Is it random and based on supply or does everyone have the same brand? I hope new users can take a min to post and let me and others know.

For those not sure how to find out just go to Apple menu then 'About This Mac' and click on 'More Info' then down to Serial-ATA to see detailed info on the internal drive.

Thanks everyone.

I didn't think it was a hard question :confused::eek:

i think it varies...on my system profiler it says "WDC blah blah blah" so i'm guessing Western Digital? most people here don't seem to prefer the stock hard drive that much if that's what you're lookin' for.

I know for laptops, Apple uses a variety of brands and it is totally random. It can range from Seagate to Western Digital to Toshiba to Samsung (I think) and a sleuth of other brands. I wouldn't imagine the situaiton being any different on the iMac.
