I have bought an iphone and am trying to figure out if it is 1.1.2 or the 1.1.3 has already been put on the phone. I am in eastern europe and as far as i know they havent been able to unlock 1.1.3 here. If in fact the phone is 1.1.2 there is no problem, but i want to make sure. Is there anyway to do this????? When I turn the phone on it indicates that i should connect to itunes, but I am afraid that it will automatically update if I do. Any suggestions

There are several guides posted here how to do this. Try searching and/or looking around a bit.

In any case, you will first have to jailbreak your phone. In the process, as you first get started, you can look at the Settings, General, About screen to get your modem firmware and software versions.

The modem firmware will determine your unlock options. 04.02.13_G means that you can use a SIM sandiwch or the brand new software unlock. 04.3.13_G means you need the new software unlock:

Actually Geohot's unlock method will also unlock 1.1.3 phones with the newer BB. Part of the process is flashing the 1.1.2 BB to the phone.

So if you're running either 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 you'll be able to unlock via geohot's method.
