Quick question, what happens to 1 year warranty if I have canceled my ATT plan, paid ETF, and using phone with TMobile. Can I still take phone to Apple Store and get the issues resolved.

nope. you need to restore it to take it to apple. if they see your using Tmobile, they'll ask to see your phone, get your serial number, type it in the computer, and then say "Congratulations you hacker! you now have no warranty on your iPhone forever! Have a nice day......hacker!"

thks for the quick response... but even if i restore and put in non-working att sim, wouldnt they know that this sim does not have service/contract? and still deny the service...

i have 1 year warranty but also planning to get apple care but if there is lot of hassle then i might just go with squaretrade... what do you guys suggest?

You do not have to have a contract with AT&T to get warranty service from Apple. All you have to have is an iPhone less than one year old and unmodified. Restore your phone and set up as new, and you will have no problems with Apple.

Note: I would leave the T-Mobile SIM at home. You don't have to have a SIM to get warranty service, and it might reduce questions. Just tell them you forgot your SIM.

Indeed, if the Apple Store Genius gives you any trouble for taking the SIM out before you brought the phone in, refer them to Apple's own support website, which recommends that you should always remove the SIM card before you send it in for service.
