Question. what does accessing documents involve in catalina

For those who are using the beta catalina, the new security feature for accessing documents sounds like it will be more difficult to do day to day accessing of files and documents. What is your experience? Does the requirement to put in a password show up whenever the application is restarted? Does the password requirement show up whenever the Mac is restarted? I had a difficult time adapting to my new 2019 T2 chip MBP from a 2011 MBP so I am wondering what sort of complications I will run into when I upgrade to Catalina. Thanks-

The warning is shown only one time for each app (when it tries to access Documents the first time).

It's also for Desktop, external volumes etc.
At times the dialog does not show and you get odd access errors.

I do wish that Apple supplied a manual option on ALL objects in the privacy panel to deal with overrides.

I have not seen that warning and have been using / testing Catalina since beta 4 - have not had to enter a password to access any local documents or even to access iCloud folders / documents - interesting

The warning happens when an app tries to access some folders automatically. If you open a document with the open panel or double click in Finder there is no warning.

...and so, is this the way things will be or is there a circumvention or fix? I get this every time I try to open a file in LibreOffice "Recent Files"...it is a pita.

LibreOffice 6.3.1.2 on Catalina Beta 8 doesn't have this problem.

Just to update comments on Catalina. I installed and no problems - Certain applications needed to be upgraded as expected. Here is an interesting article on the Catalina OS upgrade . . .
