I have a 2011 27" iMac with the 2.7 GHz, 500gb Samsung Evo SSD, and 16 GB of ram that works perfect. Today I picked up a 2011 27" 3.4 GHz 16 gb ram, the HD 6970 GPU with 2 gb memory and no hard drive. With this one I believe the GPU processor has come away from the board, so I plan on trying to fix it with the oven method. But my other option is, could I just replace the 2.7 cpu with the 3.4 and still have a decent machine and keep the most recent one for spare parts? What is y'alls opinion?
