Questions about Apple In-Ear Headphones w/Mic

I am thinking about buying the new Apple In-Ear Headphones with mic that came out a couple weeks ago. My roommate bought them for $79 for his 1st gen ipod classic, and then realized that it doesn't work on his ipod. So he is selling it to me for $65. Everything is still in the box and it looks brand new. Is this a good deal?
Also, what can I do with with these headphones on the 2nd gen ipod touch? I know that you can record notes on it, but how do you do that?

thats a very good deal seemingly the only place you can buy these headphones is the apple store at full price. It has full functionality with the 2nd gen itouch, volume and playback control and microphone.
