Im thinking about switching from firetv stick to Apple TV 3rd generation (since that’s the only one I can afford). So I just want to know does this Apple TV Device have a watch history or recently watched row? (Like firetv)

and does it have a Bluetooth option to connect my Bluetooth headphones?

The 3rd gen. Apple TV does support Bluetooth headphones and it does include the TV app. However it does not have access to the App Store and it is a discontinued product. You might want to consider an Apple TV HD instead. Even though it is also discontinued Apple will be supporting it for a while longer with OS updates.

I had two ATV3's for a number of years and really liked them. I preferred the old style thin aluminum remotes and am still using them now with my Apple TV HD's instead of the awkward Siri remotes. I also liked the simple, consistently dark ATV3 user interface.

Upgraded to the AppleTV HD (aka ATV4) because I wanted to use Sling, which is not supported on the ATV3. A number of other apps are no longer supported on the ATV3 also. Frankly, I think it would be a mistake to buy one of these today. Maybe, if it were free or almost free it would be worth a try. But you are likely to be frustrated as more and more services drop support.

Not sure if it has a global history feature, that is something I never wanted. If you are viewing your own iTunes content, I believe there's a "recently watched" playlist that is automatically created however. If cost is a factor, maybe consider a refurb AppleTV HD, it's $129 and includes the full one-year warranty.

BTW, the buttons on the remotes eventually go bad after years of use, I had to replace both of mine. So, if you end up purchasing a used ATV3, you might consider the cost of replacing the remote in your comparison with the ATV4.

I agree with this... I have one ATV 3 in one room of the house, and rarely use it, as there are virtually no apps for it... it does still support the old "iTunes Radio", but IMO that's about its only redeeming value.

Also, I agree with your comments on the remotes, as well. Somehow I ended up with 3 or 4 of the old white plastic remotes (ATV gen 1 and some early Mac minis)... I use those quite a lot, interchangeably with the silver ATV2/3 remotes... and have relegated the ATV4 and beyond Siri remote to the junk drawer.

Yes, the lack of apps and App Store caused my ATK 3rd gen to mostly collect dust. It wasn’t very useful accept in connecting my Mac or iPad to the TV via screen mirroring. I would stick to a more modern Fire TV rather than go backwards tech-wise to an outdated ATK 3rd gen. You can get a new 4K Fire TV Stick for $50 or less.
