Hi. Getting ready to buy my first iPad.

I see they come with a fancy pen.

Does iPadOS 17 come with software that allows you to use the pen?

Where exactly could you use the pens?

Can anyone speak from experience using a pen?

Also, it looks like the iPads use a different OS than iPhones?

yes, support for Pen is built in in iPad OS. The applications and OS support it natively (and not only Apple's pencils but also third parties). You can use it for notetaking, highlighting, editing, drawing and painting, video and music work. iPadOS is special version of OS for iPads, iPhones use iOS with somewhat similar features. Macs use MacOS, which is different OS.
