I am receiving an iPhone soon, and while I've tried to search threads to find answers - I've found many contradicting answers to these questions I have. Here's the scoop...

1. The iPhone I'm getting is a 2g that already has 2.2 jailbroken. I'd like to update it to 2.2.1. Should I use the official update first then jailbreak? (dev-team says yes)

2. My custom built ipsw for 2.2.1 is some -30MB smaller than the official, is that normal? I certainly don't want to put something buggered on there.

3. I've seen that there is a DFU issue with 10.5.6. Since a USB hub can be used, does the Apple Wired Keyboard count as it is a hub?

Sorry I'm the quite the neophyte with all of these dumb questions, thanks in advance for your answers.

If you don't want to unlock it (just jailbreak), as I understand it, you might as well update to 2.2.1 This installs a new baseband and you cannot go back, yet !

I just used a 2.0 hub and had no problems.

I think that doesn't apply to the 2G...

I also wasn't asked for any bootloader files, I am assuming they were found automatically?

Also technically the Apple Keyboard is a 2.0 hub, not sure if it applies to the hub trick though.
