hello i am new here and i just bought an iphone 3gs but i am not sure if i should jailbreak it since its brand new and i dont want to mess it up
so i have a couple of questions about jailbreaking
i have an iphone 3gs with 3.0.1 firmware
do you guys think it is safe to jailbreak it?
if i do jailbreak it once its done will it still be safe to update like to 3.1 whenever it comes out?

do you guys recommend it?

Yes, it is safe to jailbreak. When 3.1 comes out, you will need to wait for the jailbreak to be released, but it usually isn't more than a couple of days.

so when an apple update comes out, i have jailbreak again

and will all of the apps (even the cracked ones) still be available to use

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I have two questions.

I have a iphone 2G, bought unlocked a long time ago
version 1.14(4A102)
04.04.05_G

Looking on iclarified can I follow this tutorial?

iPhone | How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.0 Using PwnageTool (Mac)

If yes, if I only want to unlock the phone and not jailbreak is that possible?
and if it is unlocked only is it possible to use the app store?

Thank if you are able to answer these questions.

You have to be jailbroken for your phone to be unlocked if you on a 3G, with a 2G you should be able to use bootneuter to unlock it, and then do a regular restore in iTunes and it should still be unlocked as long as you didn't put it into DFU mode. And the app store will function as normal.
