I have the exact same model, you could play a few games with it, however don't expect it to handle newer games at native resolution.
The only game I could play at native resolution was World of Warcraft, some games only allow you to choose 1080p because of the limited video memory, others run fine at 720p but start struggling at any resolution higher than that.
The Core 2 microprocessor is also quite outdated consider it is two generations behind, it can handle word processing and web surfing just fine, but if you have the choice, consider investing in something more powerful(and cheap at the same time), or simply just wait for the 2011 refresh, even the entry level model of sandy bridge processors would be a significant upgrade over this one.
