Can anybody tell me how I connect a MBP to an external monitor? Do the cables that I need come with the MBP or do i have to buy them?

I have just ordered a MBP and would like to be able to use my 19" monitor with it when using music software. Does it matter if the screen is a different resolution? Might be a bit strange anyway so will look into getting a 15" monitor that matches better

What does dual link mean. does that mean you can connect 2 external monitors?

sorry for my ignorance:eek:

1. You just plug it in. If you're using DVI to connect your current monitor then you just plug it right into the MBP. If you're using VGA then the MBP has a DVI -> VGA adapter that plugs into your MBP then the monitor plugs into the adapter.

2. It doesn't matter if the screen is a different resolution, the MBP will run both screens at their native resolution. You can plug in the 30" cinema display, run it at it's native 2560x1600 whilst running the MBPs display at it's native 1440x900 or 1680x1050

3. Dual-link DVI doesn't mean you can plug in 2 monitors, it means your MBP has a version of DVI that has twice the throughput of regular DVI enabling it to drive large, high res displays like the 30" ACD. Regular DVI is limited to 1920x1200 (I think) whereas Dual-link DVI can go up to I think 3200x1800.
