I have an ATT iPhone 5 JB IOS 6.1. ATT has granted permission to unlock. I want to unlock for the sake of unlocking but will continue to use ATT for the time being.

My questions are:

1) Can I proceed with the unlock using SAM if I am using my original SIM? Basically, just to unlock the phone and walk away?

2) Does this SAM program need to be on the phone after it is unlocked? By that I mean, will the phone be "unlocked" after I use SAM, and can uninstall the program leaving a permanent unlock?

Thx for the advice guys,

Snes

You should be able to put in a different SIM and the unlock will attach, afterwards just put back the AT&T SIM.

Or you can deactivate the phone with SAM, connecting to itunes with the deactivated phone also will attach the unlock and will show the unlock message in itunes.
Afterwards SAM can be deleted. It is only necessary to deactivate the phone, nothing else.
