So I ordered an Iphone last Wed from Apple. The tracking status from FedEx hasnt updated since Thurs and it shows it left the CA facility. It still show its being scheduled for a Wed 9/5 delivery. Did anyone else not have any tracking updates on theirs when it shipped? Im startin to get worried that it may be stuck somewhere. Thanks

Fedex tracking sucks. I've seem the same thing. It will show my package being picked up then no status change for 3 or 4 days. The the day of delivery it will show all the scans from there to here. I don't know why their tracking isn't real time like UPS.

yeah thats what I was figuring. I get lots of stuff from UPS and I'm used to every detail being there. I know there was no mail Sunday and today though. It would be nice to know a few more details from FedEx concerning a $600 package.

I swear by FedEx and its tracking. I have seen pauses in tracking updates lasting several days. This was because the package wasn't moving. I have used FedEx in the Big City and I have used it in the Boonies. In my experience, its quality of service is universally good.

I have also used Brown. Given a choice of Airborne Express, DHL, FedEx, UPS, or the United States Postal Service, I avoid UPS like the plague. None of the other services have lost packages for me in as many cities as UPS. Truth to tell, none of the others have ever lost a package for me. My colleagues have been forced to backtrack the UPS delivery route to locate priceless packages that had been delivered to the wrong place by UPS.

Im not comparing which company is better at delivering packages. Truth be told Ive never had one lost, and they are always delivered when they say they will be. But, in my experience FedEx's tracking system is not as good as UPS' if you want detailed to the minute location info.

You say it wont update because its not moving. Well how does that explain the 5 scans at various destinations from origin to my house that only appear on day of delivery??

FedEx is the luxury shipper. UPS is the bargain shipper.

If its not being updated, it isnt moving or hasnt reached a place where a scan is warranted.

If its on a truck and drives around for 4 days, you only get 1 update when it left and 1 more when it leaves the truck. But, who knows, its all through tubes and stuff, things get messed up with online tracking as with anything.

Dont worry, its coming.

Well thats certainly a new one  I guess the USPS would be what, the dollar store of shippers?

Again, this just isnt true. Ive seen this multiple times. Initial scan says "picked up at (location)." 3 or 4 days pass with no tracking update. I check tracking on the day its suppose to be delivered and there have been multiple scans at various locations from there to here.

But anywho, to the OP, even though the tracking info has not updated, it likely is getting closer and will be delivered on the day it says it will be.

So I talked to a rep at FedEx. Basically for their Ground service they throw it on a truck and drive it across the country, hence no scans until it arrives. The guy said its the most commonly asked question, so why isnt it mentioned on their website or the tracking page?

Last month I bought a used phone off eBay. When it didn't show up after a couple of weeks, I asked the seller if he had the FedEx tracking number. He did, and it turned out that the online status said:

"Label destroyed. New label created and scanned"

Turned out it had been sitting for about a week until someone got around to fixing the barcode label that had been torn during transit. I got it a day later.

Usually though, FedEx is good to me.

Like many others with lots of shipping experience, I would not use UPS for overnight shipping if it's truly important to be there the next day. I can't count the number of times that UPS delivered a package a day or two late, and just shrugged and said "file for a late delivery rebate". Hey, I don't want my money back, I wanted the stupid package to get there on time in the first place !!!

USPS is postal service, not a delivery service. FedEx and UPS wont leave a package in your mailbox, nor do they have flat-rate services. So, its an apples n oranjes case.

Thats why i said S*** happens and tubes can be clogged.

Also FedEx express and FedEx ground are two separate entities. Express IS the luxury shipper of the world. No one else can take a package here and now, and have it across the country in less than 24hrs.

FedEx Express might be luxury, but FedEx Ground is way worse than UPS in my experience. They are the most inefficient shippers in my experience. (often having to stop off 2-3 times in a day, instead of once, nice carbon footprint guys) Basically the old RPS with new trucks (and private contractors that don't ever go out of their way for the customer). I wish Apple would change to Brown. I've had several items from Apple not make it here on time, or have incorrect tracking information. I've even had them drop off stuff at neighboring businesses that was mine. "knock knock, who's there, You have my iPod"
