Questions about transferring data from Mac to Mac

Ive been a reader on this site for probably 3-4 years and this is finally my first post, its a question about transferring. im selling my old black macbook on ebay and i have a buyer, the problem is i have yet to order the new imac that came out today. i have my macbook hooked up to a 1tb hd for time capsule. what i need to know is if when the new imac comes i can hook it up to this hd to transfer all the content onto the new computer without having the old one.
