So I wanted a second charge cable that was shorter than the OEM Apple one, but was also braided so that it holds up to mobile usage over time. Finding one that was safe for the MacBook was quite easy, as this model is USB-IF certified and Nathan-K approved, (and if I ever get a 15-inch MBP TB, it even supports up to 100W charging, and is USB 3.1 gen 2 capable.) As expected and designed, it works flawlessly with the rMB. This was the easy part.
So now it is time to purchase a USB-C charging adapter/block - preferably one that is smaller than the OEM. However, it appears that no IF-certified USB-C charging bricks are available for sale, even though the USB-IF does have a certification program for these. Am I missing something? Where are IF-certified chargers?
Further, I purchased a Satechi hub with passthrough charging. This product does not appear to be IF-Certified. I am not thrilled with the product or the lack of such certification, and am not comfortable using it for passthrough charging. Is there a list of USB-C hubs with passthrough capability that are USB-IF certified?
