Hi everyone,

I have a few questions that I'm sure are typical before Jailbreaking. I'm hoping to list out my situation and get some advice from you guys if this should work out alright. Here's my setup:

iPhone 3G 16GB White - got it at the launch last year.
- 2.2.1 Firmware
- 2.30.03 Modem Firmware
- On the AT&T Network

MacBook 13" Unibody
- OS X 10.5.7
- iTunes 8.1.1
- Powered USB Hub (just in case, I hear 10.5.7 doesn't need it)

I'm thinking about using PwnageTool 2.2.5 and the guide from iClarified. I'm looking to Jailbreak, stay on AT&T and just be able to use Cydia and Installer. Mainly I'm wanting to Jailbreak to get SlingPlayer to work over 3G, Tethering, Video recording, and some other typical Jailbreak apps. What do you guys think, anything I should watch out for?

Thanks in advance,
John

Nope, you've seemed to have covered your bases well. Enjoy. :)

Thanks. I did the jailbreak on Friday and it went great. It took only about 10 minutes to build the ipsw, restore the phone, and reboot. The longest part was syncing all my apps and music back over which took about an hour.

Over the weekend, my iPhone has been running great. I've downloaded a few jailbreak apps and played with theming my iPhone using Winterboard. It's very easy to jailbreak and I'm really glad that I did.

Glad to hear things went well! Theming has been one of my main reasons why I like to jailbreak. If you want to know more about the file system, www.hackthatphone.com had some great tutorials.

Great, thanks for the link. I was playing around with it and Cyberduck but didn't want to accidentally mess up the filesystem. I'll have to check that out and learn some more. Thanks again!
