Bought my first Apple computer this spring. It is a Macbook pro running OS X. I had three questions and was hoping someone in this forum could assist me -

1. Hotmail Access. I have setup httpmail to download my hotmail to apple mail. It is downloading and sending fine. Problem is once I delete an email from Apple Mail's Inbox and remove it from Trash it still does not delete it from the Hotmail deleted items folder on the hotmail website. I have tried httpmail advanced setting set to 'Delete on Download' & 'Synchronize with Server'. Not sure what is wrong.

2. Gmail Access. Similarly Apple Mail does not seem to delete Gmail off the gmail website.

It is a little painful deleting mail both on the local client and on respective websites. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

My last questions is regarding printing. I have a HP Officejet 6200 connected to my macbook pro. Is there any setting so I can manually override and print only in black & white. It seems to be printing only in color and I cannot seem to find a B&W manual override. This option is available when I connect the HP to a Windows XP machine, but not on the Mac. Any thoughts! I'm tired of replacing my color cartridge.

Thanks!

Both web based email services you mentioned have options you can view and change...one of those options is to leave a copy on the server or on the web. I've seen it. Just make the appropriate selection to have it not keep that email on the web and you should be good to go. Also check the options on your PC's email application as this sometimes has a similar option, but won't over-ride the web option.

In the print dialog, select ColorSync in the box below presets and use the Quartz Filter option. You can save this as a preset if you wish, for easier access the next time.

Im sorry to reply to your question with a question of my own, but how did you get Hotmail to work with mail in mac? Did you have to buy a subscription or are you using outlook?

This is httpmail (that the OP references); if it doesn't work, MacFreePOPs is another option (I've used both... I currently use MacFreePOPs). There are quite a few threads discussing using them on here as well. :)
