Questions on MiniServer backup

With server mini if I had sys&apps on seperate disk to my work files and I had failure of sys&apps disk could I install lion(non-server) on second disk and would it work with files I had created in Lion Server(with server add ons turned off)? Or would I have to download server version?(I assume so tho would I be able to at least boot Lion nonserver anyway?)

Presumably I can make a bootable dvd from downloaded lion server files in same way as I’ve seen posted here and there for making Lion boot dvd or flash drive?

Sure, you can do that, but you'll have to create the users manually and give them all the proper UIDs, pointing the home directories in the correct place.
