Well, today I noticed several problems with my 20" iMac's display. 4 stuck pixels, 1 dead pixel, burn in at the top, and seriously uneven blacklighting. I am hoping that I can get a replacement from Apple, but if I do, will they replace my whole computer or just the LCD? I'm assuming just the LCD, but just to be safe I want to back up my data when I send it in, so can someone give me a step by step way of backing up all of my stuff? Sorry, I'm kind of a noob at this sort of thing.

Easy guide to backing up...

Step 1- Copy all you data to an external volume
Step 2- Wait
Step 3- There is no step 3

I think if you asked nicely they could put your old drive in the replacement model.

depend on:

1. how old is your machine. they'll likely replace the whole thing w/in 1 month. but after that...
2. after that they'll likely to replace parts. and depend on if they have the parts and/or technicians, they will
1. replace right there
2. order parts and hold the machine there
3. order parts and tell you to bring machine back when parts get in
4. send it off to replace
5. or they'll just replace everything

now for backup...
use disk utility to create an Disk Image of your harddrive, and later restore that image use disk utility...

but you really should constantly backup, which you use a software and back up all your documents and other stuff...
