Today I had some quality time with my co-workers new MBP 2.33 C2D machine. I have a 2.0Ghz CD machine, so I was a bit curious as to how they perform in the day-to-day. She has a 200Gb 4200 RPM drive, 2GB of ram; I have 120GB 5400, 2GB of ram as well.

First, I will say, the new machine does feel a little peppier. Things seem to load faster, including pshop. Machine handled itself well, although I didnt do any superstressing benchmark stuff.

The machine still gets hot as hell. I was installing apps, and a few other little things on it, and it got as hot, if not nearly close, to my MBP CD. If the new machines run cooler, its not cool enough to make a difference. You still could not keep it on your lap without some thick jeans.

All in all, its a faster machine, but its not worlds different, and Ill keep what I have until there is another revision down the road. I am a bit jealous that thing has FW800 though!

EDIT: I changed the title to "quick" from "mini"; I was NOT talking about a non-existent C2D mini..after all, this is the Macbook forum now!

Well I won't call it a real comparison, you can buy almost 3 Minis for the price of a single MBP.

Uhh .. either your just messing around or you don't understand. The Mac Mini was never even mentioned by the OP. "Mini comparison" simply means miniature, as in the OP doesn't go into that much detail.

Edit : I get it now :D. I'm way too slow to catch on to these things.
