Can I charge with any USB power source? I changed nearly all of my wall outlets to have 2.5A USB charging points.

Also, can I use any USB-C cable lying around? I think we have 4 or 5 scattered around the house along with 3 or 4 different quick charging systems (Vernee, Xiaomi, OnePlus and some genetic QC 3.0 adapters).

Assuming it works similarly to the early-2020 intel MBA...

You *can* charge from a lower-wattage source, but realize it will be slower - and may not charge at all if you're using the system at the same time. An 18W USBC-PD port does work well for charging on the kitchen side counter. I use this adapter: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TTGPPBF

Most USBC cables ought to handle the charging needs for the MBA - if it won't, then it won't. Power delivery is negotiated, so you shouldn't cause any negative impact.

Yeah, I simply have tons of cables lying around that I could use. I'll simply test them out.

BTW - a powerbank with 18W USBC-PD can be used to extend your away-from-power runtime.

This little guy has been a nice addition to a my travel kit / work backpack - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083Z57VL7
One of the reasons I'm excited is that I shouldn't need to change at all really when awake if the runtime is 12-16h on the M1MBA, but we shall see.

I have something like that plugged into my office to quick charge my Xiaomi phone, so let's hope it works with the new MBA.

Should be a good user experience.

I'm considering getting some USB-C PD wall outlets for this and the Homepod Mini.

Even a 5W iPhone charger will charge your Macbook. It'll be very slow, and will probably fall behind if you're using the machine at the same time, but it will work.

Think of it as a water tank; you're draining the water tank at the bottom while you use the machine, and adding water at the top with the charger. If you're adding less water than you're using, the battery will still discharge. But if you close the lid and the machine is asleep you'll be draining almost nothing so it will fill up, albeit slowly.

The previous Macbook Air had a 50WH battery, so with a 5W iPhone brick it should charge from 0 to 100% in a bit over 10 hours if you're not using it.
