Quick downgrade question....

Searched forms, oddly found nothing, so here's the post.

To downgrade from the 10.2 beta, back to 10.1.1, I simply delete the profile, download 10.1.1 IPSW file, and restore it in mac iTunes? As far as backups, I always backup the phone locally before doing this. What is accomplished when I restore from backup? If I do this after installing 10.1.1, does it only restore settings/apps? I assume it wouldn't restore the phone back to the beta software, would it? Last question, Any idea which IPSW file I want for iPhone 7 Plus (T-Mobile) http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-10.1.1-ipsw-links-for-iphone-ipad-ipod-touch/ ? Site has 2 different versions listed..... Thanks

I don't think you will be able to restore. Generally speaking, backup's from newer versions will not restore to an older version of software. If you could get it to restore, it will only include settings and preferences. The iOS is not part of the backup.

Do you have a backup from before you upgraded that you could use?

If you do iCloud backups, iCloud typically saves a week or so worth of previous backups, just in case. So when you're doing a restore from backup, some of the bottom choices might still be from 10.1.x, depending on how long you've been on 10.2.

I guess it might depend on the size of the backup and how much iCloud space one has. I don't think I've ever seen more than one additional iCloud backup on my account to choose from beyond the most recent one that I have.

Odd. Mine often go back like half a month. I do have the 50GB plan though, so.....

But I recall even with 5GB, it went back at least a week.

Perhaps if the backups themselves were not very large. I think each one of my backups is in the range of 2-3 GB, which means the more than 1 or 2 likely wouldn't be present on a basic free 5GB iCloud account.

You can update back to previous official version without losing any data. I used this trick to escape beta in iOS 9 and it worked really well.
Just click "check updates" when holding down "shift" in windows or "control" in Mac when clicking "check updates".
