Quick newb question on updating

I am jb on 4.3.3 on my iPhone 4 and was wondering if i can update to 5.0 then restore from my jb 4.3.3 backup? I understand that it won't be jailbroken, but just want to know if photos and texts will transfer over. Thanks!
