How does it work?

As a test I want to go to https://www.apple.com/uk/macos/monterey/features/ and add a quick note to a paragraph. Then I'd like to be able to see my quick note when I come back, and I'd like to be able to organise my quick notes by app within the Notes app.

Links

Add links from an app to your Quick Note to create context. When you return to the same place in the app or website, a thumbnail of the Quick Note appears in the corner to remind you of what you noted earlier.

Can't figure it out.

Thanks!

So this feature does not exist? Still can't find it or anyone who uses it.

I tried it out. It barely works for me. According to https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/07/22/how-to-use-quick-notes-on-macos-monterey, it only works in Safari. The article's description of the functionality definitely says it won't satisfy your requirements.

To say that it works in Safari is a stretch. Basically, it seems you create a quick note and then click the "link" button at the top of the note. That button seems to know what the front most window of Safari is displaying. It then inserts into the note the link to that page. There is no evidence on the Safari page that there is a note relating to it.

I have a dual monitor setup. Initially the button that appears in the lower right corner of the screen was appearing there. After a bit of play with notes, a chopped off button started appearing a few inches above the corner.

It really is a sad display of Apple's lack of developer prowess, unless I'm missing something.

I use Quick Notes sometimes via a hot corner to copy links, but have never seen the thumbnail and I don't use the highlighted text feature (although it works).

Oh, so there is more to it... there just isn't a quick note option in private windows which is where I was looking. Thanks for the revelation, svenmany, WildSky!

The link button works for me when I have a non-private window in the foreground, but even then it seems to get disabled if I click it but don't choose an app (eg if there is none), until I close & reopen the note. I also got the text on the page to be highlighted in yellow but it goes away sometimes, such as when I reload the page (by focusing the address bar and hitting enter, but not by the refresh button).

I'll stick to Quiver for now.
