hiya,

OK when i travel i have a "travel & on the road" page, there I have my GPS's, Cheap gas, traffic, traffic cams apps etc.... but I also would like one of those apps on my front page, also wouldn't mind having the camera app off my "photo page" on the traffic/travel page.

is there a way to copy and paste an "alias of the app" onto another page?

thanks

ps i'm thinking the answer is "only if you jailbreak the phone".....

I haven't tried this but I reckon it'd work, in theory. Some apps have a URL "opener" (don't know what the official name would be). For example, if you have tomtom installed, try typing "tomtom:" into safari and it'll open the tomtom app. Same for maps, sms, and some others.

So my theory is, you just create a blank webpage with a meta refresh that instantly loads the app using the app's name and a ":". You then just stick the webpage on a webserver somewhere along with a copy of the app's icon as apple-touch-icon.png.

Then just save the webpage as an icon on your springboard. You may have to do this part before adding the meta refresh as you may not have time to create the bookmark before it launches the app.

Note this is only possible with certain apps. Not all apps have this "launcher" capability.

All a bit of a pain to get to work, but I reckon it would be possible using this method.

I'd just put it under my favorites. This way it's always there.
