if i go in a couple weeks from now [within my 30 day return policy, after everyone gets a chance at one:eek:] and ask them to replace my iphone due to the yellow screen, will apple do it? Has anyone had experience with this?

Also, light from the screen shines through the sides of my white iphone 3g in several places, like all around the sides of it [in between the chrome and the backing]. Is this normal as i am not used to seeing this in my first gen iPhone

thanks in advance :D

From what has been said about the Yellowing on the Macbook Pro's, I doubt you will get it replaced for that reason, but you should be able to if light is coming out the sides, as this is not normal. There should be no gap at all. So I would first try and get it replaced with that problem, and if they have problems with it, then give it a shot with the yellowing problem. But hopefully they will replace it with the light coming through problem.

But the thing is, it doesnt come directly out of the phone, there are no cracks so to say, but the light still shines through the sides of the white backing. does this still qualify an exchange?

Oh, so it isn't as if there is any actual gap in the assembly of the phone? It is just shining through the paint of the back? In that case, I doubt they would replace it.
Maybe just suck it up and get over it and start enjoying your new iphone? (not trying to be rude or anything)

Is it badly yellow? Some have reported that it makes the colours a lot better, and that the original iPhone was actually more blue which looks worse.

Mine looks great, and so does my MBP (which people says also has a Yellow screen), and I honestly dont want to do any tests to see if my screen is also yellow.

Have you done the Firmware update (well the restore button)? Some have reported that it makes it less yellow (although others have said it does nothing).
