Unless you can prove the scratches are due to a defect in the display, I doubt it. A cracked screen can be replaced as part of the 2 claims allowed that require the $49 deductible be paid.

Ok. My AppleCare run out next month. I would like to use one of my replacements and pay the $49 charge. So they will replace the screen if I pay the $49

From watching Youtubers deliberately “accidentally” break their devices scratches won’t cut it. You need to actually have a broken device for them to replace it with AppleCare. How it gets totally destroyed cracked, smashed, bent it Half is up to you.

it doesn't take that much with an iPad. no parts can be changed so one good crack on the screen and you have to replace it.

Update.

Apple replaced the iPad with a brand new one. I asked if it was refurbished and was told nope. Brand new. Either way it’s perfect.

The don’t replace iPad screen. Just replace the whole iPad.

Funny thing was I actually dropped it Wednesday night. Had to use it with a cracked rest of the week.

I got my 9.7 Pro replaced using an “express replacement” two weeks ago after I discovered a small crack on the screen. The one they sent me was brand new as well, not refurbished, and with express replacement they send you a new one and you send them the damaged one and it gives you overlap time where you can transfer your data and stuff onto the new one. Glad you got yours sorted out, as well.
