Does it already have the option to receive messages that were sent to a phone number (like on the latest iPad beta) or will we have to wait until iOS 6?

Quick question about GM Messages

I haven't had any luck getting to to work yet. This is with two iOS 6 devices (4S and a new iPad, both up-to-date on the betas), which do in fact now share my phone number as a send/receive address.
On the iPad, is there just an option to add your phone number in your receive at settings in messages? Also, can you change your caller ID to the number as well?
And just out of curiosity, what kind of confirmation process is there when adding a phone number? Can you only add the one associated with your Apple ID?
And just to clear it up, there isn't a place in settings on ML messages to add a number to receive at?
Its currently a series of hoops to jump through; logging in and out of the two devices seems to randomly trigger an alert on the iPad that the iPhone's number is now being used for Facetime/iMessages. The confirmation process requires the number be paired with your appleID, then once you log in with it, there is no "Are you sure you want to do this,? it just works. Finally, in ML, the Messages app has no location for a phone number and the wording of the dialog box implicitly requires an email address, as noted below when you attempt to add address to be reached at.

This feature, the unified number for your Apple ID, is something that I've really been looking forward to. It would make iMessaging much easier, for me. I hope they add it to the Mac soon.

I thought so, but perusing the pages for ML and iOS 6 over at apple.com, I don't see an explicit mention of the phone number unification coming to the Mac. Just vague wordage about sending and receiving from all your devices, which is technically possible right now if you use email addresses instead of phone numbers. I too am excited for the ability to send and receive via my number on all my devices, but its looking more and more like the Mac won't be one of those.
