Quick question about Jailbreaking with mac and PC

So I already have my iPhone 3G jailbroken and running beautifully, but if i were to want to run my iphone on my PC, id be forced to reformat it wouldnt i?

thanks. I tried it and instead of telling me to reformat, it just asked me to merge data.
