I've been curious about this for awhile.

Is a Logic Board the same thing as a Motherboard? Is it just the Apple people call it one thing and the PC people call it another or is there a technical difference?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You've got it in one. Logic board = motherboard.

On some older Macs the logic board was a slide in affair with the back panel attached, so you could upgrade your machine by undoing a couple of screws, pulling the logic board out the back of the machine, and replacing it with a faster one (e.g. Performa 630CD --> Performa 6320). Sadly Apple moved away from that years ago.
