Quick question about my SHSH.

Hey guys, I'm currently Tether JB with Blackra1n on 3.1.2 on a 3gs. I've never upgraded to 3.1.3.

I've had my fun with all of my cydia apps and sshing, and now want to start over with a fresh jailbreak and not download or ssh so much useless crap into my phone.

In cydia it does tell me my SHSH is saved on the server for 3.1.2, so I guess that means I can restore 3.1.2. I've downloaded my 3.1.2 firmware and edited my host file, (it wouldn't save, so I had to open it with notepad, save it in a different folder and paste it in, will that still work) and am ready to restore.

My main questions comes with my problem with my host file. If i failed to edit the host file, and try to restore to 3.1.2, will apple reject me and force 3.1.3 on me instead? Will my phone be stuck in recovery mode and forced to be restored on 3.1.3 or re attempt 3.1.2? Or will it just reject the restore process, and not do anything to my phone.

Also, if I upgrade to 3.1.3 accidently, I can still downgrade to 3.1.3 right? My SHSH won't get deleted, and I can't use it too many times either?

I know this is really unorganized, but I'm just making sure I don't mess things up for good.

It will just reject the 3.1.2 and wont let you restore if you dont have it redirect to Sauriks server. Your iphone would be fine and not in restore mode.
And yes even if you do upgrade to 3.1.3 by accident you can always downgrade without a prob as long as you dont care for an unlock just the JB.

I just tried to restore it to 3.1.2, but I keep getting the "this iphone is not elegible blah blah".

I DO have my SHSH saved on the server, and I am changing the host file.

Does it have anything to do with the fact that I'm not able to actually save the file directly to the etc folder, and i have to paste it into my documents, then copy and paste it into the etc folder again after I've edited it? I really need help with this becasue I can't seem to restore otherwise.

EDIT: Took my phone out of DFU mode, restarted my phone, and it is now currently restoring. Hopefully I didn't accidentally instal 3.1.3 insted..

I'm assuming you're on Windows 7? Try this.

Unfortunately I keep getting random errors during my restore.

My first restore waranted error 13. Second was 1604, third attempt (now in DFU mode) got me error 13 agian.

I read somewhere that error 13 can be fixed by changing USB ports. I guess I'll try it tomorrow, since it is already getting late and I don't want to attempt this anymore.
