The 14 day period starts from the day I receive my MacBook Pro or from the day I place the order online?

Does Apple need to receive the MacBook Pro within the 14 day?

I believe it starts from them moment you receive it. Doesn't make sense if its the day you ordered it and the order was delayed 15 days.

I believe you need to obtain and RMA within 14 days not have it in their possesion in 14 days. Personally I'd bring it to a local apple store, heck, I'd buy it a local apple store.

The only wrinkle in returning a laptop is that you cannot return a CTO machine, that is if you customized the order, then special restrictions apply like no returns.

I'm pretty sure it's not an unconditional, no-questions-asked 14-day return period. I don't think they'll be too interested in getting your used computer back in exchange for a new updated MBP if that's what you're getting at.

from the Apple Store return & refunds policy;

If you are not satisfied with your Apple purchase of a product, please visit online Order Status or call 1-800-676-2775 for a Return Material Authorization (RMA).

... For eligible Mac, iPod, and third-party products, you have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return....

...You must return the product to the Apple warehouse within 14 calendar days of the issuance of the RMA....

you have 14 days to get your RMA number and then you have 14 days to get it back to Apple

edit; this assumes you bought in the USA
