Quick question about upgrading from Beta 1 to Beta 2

When I sync my iPhone with itunes I get this error.

"iTunes could not back up the iphone because the iphone refused the request"

Now I'm just worried about upgrading to beta 2 because I need all my contacts and previous text messages. Does anyone know if that stuff will transfer over? Or will I need to start from scratch since my phone will not backup?

it should be able to restore from your last good backup.
